Sounds like a great getaway tar....Amazing just how close the gap is between the mundane and often artificial obligations of our lives are and the larger "laws" that nature instructs us on....Joshua tree is beautiful, and so close.

BW is an interesting cat, one much closer to my age than yrs....I seem to remember that he was staying at Fleas house in Malibu and lost everthing in the fires a bit ago. I look forward to the music.

Be well,

You are right, there isn't a perfect plan.

Thanks for the post, it was an intriguing concept that got me thinking. I had heard about that email floating around, but had yet to have a chance to read it.

Dan,

You're correct. I figured this out a couple of days ago-actually someone else figured it out. Crazy that a viral email chain can be so believable. Just the fact that we always believe what we see.

Brian,
Thanks for your comment. To be honest, Im pretty neutral myself. Im not a democrat, republican, but somewhere in the middle. I didn't write this-I just posted it for interest sake. Its clearly not a "perfect plan" but what plan is?

Dad told me about your inner conflict regarding some investment you were debating. Hope this helps:

I've seen it before and I'm sure I'll see it again.
Whenever a business cycle starts to falter, the media start wringing their hands. Then big businesses do, freelancers, entrepreneurs and soon everyone is keening.
People and organizations that have no real financial stress start to pull back, "because it's prudent." Now is not the time, they say. They cut budgets and put off investments. It's almost as if everyone is just waiting for an excuse to do less.
In fact, they are.
Growth is frightening for a lot of people. It brings change and the opportunity for public failure. So if the astrological signs aren't right or the water is too cold or we've got a twinge in our elbow, we find an excuse. We decide to do it later, or not at all.
What a shame. What a waste.
Inc. magazine reports that a huge percentage of companies in this year's Inc. 500 were founded within months of 9/11. Talk about uncertain times.
But uncertain times, frozen liquidity, political change and poor astrological forecasts (not to mention chicken entrails) all lead to less competition, more available talent and a do-or-die attitude that causes real change to happen.
If I wasn't already running my own business, today is the day I'd start one.

PS
Oh yeah, and Bryce and I have decided to continually deface your blog in any way humanly possible.

hey man just did some quick math. 85 billion divided by 200 million is $425, with no trailing zeroes. so i still don't like the current bailout plan proposed but this chain is a hoax.

FYI my tone is very even. I am not trying to start a WWIII about this economy or election. It is too complicated for any of us to pretend we know what is really going on...

I know this was a quick post without much thought, so I will not get into detail. In reference to your bailout plan I have one word, INFLATION. It would blow the economy to hell. You think the inflation of gasoline is bad right now, wait for that to take effect across the board. Although I agree that wall street and banks do NOT deserve to be bailed out, it is the only way out of this slump. The government is the only one big enough to bail them out. That is the bi-partisan unanimous view. Giving money to the citizens does nothing for all the banks and wall street grease-balls that are up to their eyes in bad investments and loans. AGAIN, I wish they could squirm in their greed, but it would take the country down with it.

Also, from your comments I am assuming you are for Obama. "If he is not dead yet" referring to McCain and the "puny" $1000 comment. However all your aspirations are to have the money come to you and not to the government, the very opposite view that Obama and the Democratic party has for our country. Giving the money back to people is a Republican way. It may be a small amount, but it does go to you. While we are on the topic of a government-controlled life, how does socialized health-care sound? McCain's plan gives each family or single citizen CASH to choose your own medical plan. Government controlled programs like Medicare and Social Security are not fairing very well, why should we trust them with our health?

Anyways, I got to your blog through a linked-in mailing list. I see that you are a small business owner too. Something McCain and the Republican party are very supportive of. McCain just today was out talking to a small business forum on the campaign trail while Obama was at his usual college campus talking to his "fans".

We all have our reasons for voting, none of which are wrong. I just would have thought the republican candidate in this race would suit your aspirations a little better. Not to mention the financial firms of the US (the ones still standing) are backing McCain to get us out of this, not Obama. Look at the recent Money, Forbes and Smart Money magazines. There is a lot of very neutral info in there on candidates and how their policies will effect the country.

We need to stop falling for Obama's campaign tactic which link McCain with Bush. There is not a more independent Republican out there. McCain has butted heads publicly with Bush numerous times on many topics from the war to the economy. Even his own party has called him an Independent and a rogue Republican. It is no wonder Joe Lieberman, Clinton administration members and so many democrats are coming over to support McCain in this election. Obama scares liberals in his own party with his inexperience and far left liberal views.

I am very neutral and consider myself independent on most topics. I will not be a clone and conform to every issue just to be apart of a specific political party.

Best of luck with your business and have a safe trip to Europe. I too am a small business owner and have had some great clients but am always looking for more and better paying jobs!!! I would not dwell too much on spending the money on your camera. At least our dollar is gaining strength in the foreign market, which should help your travels out a bit...

I disagree! Kelly was surfing like crap - shit through out the contest. He was over scored on every wave he caught. Taj on the other hand was in rare form and provided (besides Dane Reynolds) some of the most explosive surfing of the event. It seems the ASP is trying to hand Kelly the tour just as they handed him this contest on a silver platter - with a side of but stance.
